Bomba is a traditional Puerto Rican genre of music that incorporates several instruments with strong vocals from a lead singer. Bomba is not only endemic to Puerto Rico but has historically been used as music for resistance and cultural pride. Bomba music is a large part of Puerto Rican culture and is thankfully having a resurgence in recent decades. Chef Lulu is a practitioner of bomba learning maraca from many different schools ranging from Puerto Rico to Berkeley. Make sure to check out the event calendar and social media for events where we host bombazos from other schools and spread the beauty of this music.
